Trump Cannabis-What Will Trump’s Cannabis Policy Be?

Donald Trump has been clear about where he stands on many domestic policy issues. The President-Elect’s stance on cannabis has been less clear, however.

Green Rush Daily has done the work of collecting a few of Trump’s past quotes about cannabis in order to hopefully shed some light on what the future may hold for the fledgling industry.

In 1990, Donald Trump said that drug laws were “a joke” and that legalization would “take the profit away from these drug czars.” In 2016, he said “Legalized marijuana is always a very difficult question. For medicinal purposes and medical purposes, it’s fine,” and in a separate interview said “I would want to think about that one Bill [O’Reilly] because in some ways, I think it’s good and in some other ways, it’s bad.”

While campaigning, Trump said “Marijuana is such a big thing. I think medical should happen, right? Don’t we agree? I think so. And then I really believe we should leave it up to the states.”

While Donald Trump has not stated definitively that he would support medical or recreational cannabis legalization, what he has said is somewhat promising. For the time being, there seems to be no cause for concern.
